A Disclaimer If You Are Going Off Your Anti-Depression Meds
Do so wisely and with the right support.
I’m a big fan of natural healing and of using alternative medicine to heal clinical depression. Still, if a person has been on medication for a while and decides to go off, they need to do so with common sense.
Here is the disclaimer I wrote for my book Healing Depression Naturally.
The information presented in this book is for informational purposes only. It is based on scientific studies, clinical experience, and/or traditional usage of food, herbs, nutritional supplements, and various body/mind approaches to the healing of depression and associated symptoms. Consult your doctor, mental health professional, wellness consultant, and/or pharmacist for any health problem and before using any supplements or before making any changes in prescribed medications.
The herbs, amino acids, and other nutrients listed in this book are generally safe in the amounts indicated. Increasing your intake of any supplements to a high dosage level in the belief that more is better is not recommended. All nutritional and herbal products should be used with caution during pregnancy and lactation. Certain medications may interact with herbs. It is recommended you discuss the use of herbs and your current medication(s) with your holistic physician, an herbalist, or a pharmacist familiar with herb-drug interactions.
The Takeaway
Many people, with the best of intentions, will abuse or misuse natural healing techniques, nutrition, herbs, and other alternative approaches to health. This is especially so concerning depression and other emotional challenges. Be wise and never make important decisions without wise counsel.
